What is “parts work”?

Labeling something within you - a behavior, a pattern, an aspect of personality - as a “part,” we are able to focus on one aspect of Self at a time.

Some parts are newer, some are ancient, but the act of seeing them as parts, and not the whole, allows us to fine tune YOU, and this healing work becomes more digestible.

Parts work, as I practice it, is an initiation back into wholeness.

This seems paradoxical to some folks because we are literally seeing you as a conglomeration of smaller pieces, but…

It’s not really about dissecting your psyche or giving every voice inside you a label, per se, and then keeping everything separate.

It’s about creating a sanctuary for the pieces of you that have splintered off in moments of fear, heartbreak, or survival…

and for the parts of you that are older than time itself and able to act as stronger resources within.

When we enter parts work together in session, we leave the realm of fixing and problem-solving and access a natural altered state so we can step into a field of deep witnessing.

We meet these parts in the language they understand: sensation, breath, emotion, imagery… and we invite them home.

Into deeper alignment with what you actually want in life.

Sometimes parts look like a tender crying child.

Sometimes they roar, a protector who’s been working overtime to keep you safe in what is perceived as a dangerous world.

What happens when you see a child who is speaking but not being listened to?

They get louder and louder, then maybe they hit you to get your attention, or something similar.

The key is to not berate the behavior of a part of self that acts out.

All of your parts are just longing to be remembered, to be seen and heard.

When these parts are welcomed instead of exiled, something miraculous happens: your system begins to reorganize.

Safety returns to the body.

The war inside ends.

You feel free to choose, to love, to create, and to live, without inner conflict.

Parts work is a ceremonial descent into the depths of your being, guided by the truth that every part of you belongs.

And when they know that, your whole life begins to shift.
