Tantra Talks in Nosara
A community conversation + living practice.
January 9, 6:30-8:30pm
Casa Pacifico, Nosara
Donation-Based
Tantra Talks is a gathering space for sincere inquiry into classical Tantra philosophy and practice, grounded in real life, real bodies, and direct experience.
These evenings are part discussion, part guided practice, and a place to ask questions, listen deeply, and really feel the teachings in the body rather than just think about them.
No prior Tantra experience is required. Come with curiosity and openness and see what blooms for you in discussion.
January Theme: The Three Upayas
Three pathways of awakening within classical non-dual Tantra
In The Essence of Tantra, Abinavagupta writes that consciousness both conceals and reveals itself, sometimes spontaneously, and sometimes through a process.
When revelation occurs through a process, it unfolds in one (or more) of three modes, known as the three upayas.
Upaya means means or method. A non-hierarchical map.
We’ll explore:
The Divine Method (Shambhavopaya) - Spirit-level recognition, effortless awareness, grace, direct knowing
The Empowered Method (Shaktopaya) - Mind-level refinement, inquiry, mantra, intention, subtle attention
The Embodied / Individual Method (Anavopaya) - Body-based practice, breath, sensation, nervous system regulation, embodied awareness.
Together, these three means of enlightenment and recognition describe how awakening meets us, through spirit, mind, and body, depending on where we are and what is uniquely accessible to each of us as individuals.
What to expect:
Clear teaching rooted in classical non-dual Tantra
Open, grounded discussion with questions welcomed
Guided experiential practices from each upaya
A calm, respectful, non-performative space
Practices that are held with curiosity and integration in mind, not leading to overwhelm
Tantra offers something rare:
A complete map that honors consciousness, cognition, and embodiment, without forcing transcendence or pathologizing literally anything about the human experience. These talks are a chance to release pressure and settle into the body and into remembrance gently and equally.
